Fast Development with AI
How AI tools like Claude can accelerate your storefront development, and what to watch out for.

One of the biggest advantages of building with DashForDevs is that our SDK is designed to work seamlessly with AI coding assistants. Whether you are using Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other AI tool, you can vibe code your entire storefront from scratch.
What is Vibe Coding?
Vibe coding is the practice of describing what you want to an AI assistant and letting it write the code for you. Instead of manually writing every component, you tell the AI: "Build me a product page with image gallery, size selector, add to cart button, and reviews section using the DashForDevs SDK" — and it generates the code.
With DashForDevs, this works exceptionally well because:
- Clean, predictable API — Our SDK methods follow consistent patterns that AI models understand easily
- Comprehensive documentation — AI tools can reference our docs to generate accurate code
- Standard tech stack — We use React, Next.js, and standard REST patterns that every AI model has been trained on
- No proprietary abstractions — No custom templating languages or theme engines to confuse the AI
What AI Can Build For You
With the DashForDevs SDK and an AI coding assistant of your choice, you can generate:
- Complete storefront pages from a text description
- Payment flows with Stripe or Authorize.net
- Customer authentication and account pages
- Dynamic product filtering and search
- Cart and checkout flows
- SEO, meta tags, and Open Graph integration
- Blog pages, landing pages, and marketing content
What used to take weeks of development can now be done in hours. Describe what you want, let the AI generate the code, review it, and ship.
Precautions When Vibe Coding
AI-assisted development is powerful, but it comes with risks you need to be aware of:
1. Never Expose Secret Keys
This is the most critical rule. Your secret API key (sk_live_* or sk_test_*) must NEVER appear in client-side code, environment variables prefixed with NEXT_PUBLIC_, or any code that runs in the browser.
The DashForDevs SDK will throw an error if it detects a secret key being used in a browser environment. But AI tools do not always know which environment your code runs in. Always double-check:
- Use
pk_live_*(public key) in your frontend /NEXT_PUBLIC_*env vars - Use
sk_live_*(secret key) ONLY in server-side code, API routes, or backend services - Never commit
.env.localfiles to git - Add
.env*to your.gitignore
2. Review Generated Code
AI can generate code that looks correct but has subtle issues:
- Security vulnerabilities — XSS, SQL injection, improper input validation
- Hardcoded values — API keys, URLs, or prices embedded in the code instead of coming from the API
- Race conditions — Cart operations that do not await properly
- Missing error handling — API calls without try/catch blocks
- Stale data — Caching that does not invalidate when products change
Always review the code the AI generates. Read it, understand it, test it. AI is your assistant, not your replacement.
3. Test Payment Flows
Before going live, test your entire checkout flow with test API keys. AI might generate code that handles the happy path but breaks on edge cases like:
- Declined cards
- Expired sessions
- Out-of-stock items during checkout
- Discount codes that have been used up
- Shipping to unsupported states
4. Responsibility
Ultimately, you are responsible for your storefront. Whether you wrote every line by hand or had AI generate it:
- You are responsible for PCI compliance in payment handling
- You are responsible for age verification if selling restricted products
- You are responsible for data privacy and GDPR/CCPA compliance
- You are responsible for accurate product information and pricing
- You are responsible for securing your API keys and customer data
DashForDevs provides the tools and infrastructure. How you use them is up to you and your team.
Recommended AI Workflow
- Start with the docs — Share relevant documentation pages with your AI assistant
- Build page by page — Do not try to generate the entire site at once
- Test as you go — Run the code after each major component
- Use test keys first — Switch to production keys only when everything works
- Review security — Check for exposed keys, XSS vectors, and input validation before deploying
Non-Developers: You Can Build Too
You do not need to know how to code to build a storefront with DashForDevs. With modern AI agents, anyone can create a professional e-commerce site. Here is how:
Step 1: Design and Build with Claude Code
We recommend Claude Code by Anthropic — a CLI coding agent that both designs your UI and wires it up to the DashForDevs SDK in one step. Point it at an empty folder and describe your pages:
- "A modern dark-themed product page with image gallery, size selector, quantity picker, and add to cart button"
- "A shopping cart drawer that slides in from the right with item list, quantities, and checkout button"
- "A clean checkout page with shipping form, payment section, and order summary"
Claude Code writes the React/Next.js components, styles them, and connects them to your products, cart, and checkout — no copy-pasting between tools.
Step 2: Other AI Agents (Optional)
Claude Code is our recommendation, but the SDK is standard React/Next.js and works with any AI coding assistant:
- OpenAI Codex / ChatGPT — Paste your component code and ask it to add DashForDevs SDK calls for products, cart, and checkout
- Cursor — An AI-powered code editor that can refactor your entire project with SDK integration
- GitHub Copilot — Inline suggestions as you type, understands the SDK patterns
Step 3: Deploy
Push to GitHub and deploy on Vercel with one click. Your storefront is live.
The Complete Non-Developer Workflow
- Sign up at dashfordevs.com and create your organization
- Add your products, set up payment processing, configure shipping in the dashboard (no code needed)
- Open Claude Code or your preferred AI agent
- Tell it: "Set up a Next.js project, install the dash4devs SDK, and build my storefront pages wired to the SDK. My public key is pk_live_xxx"
- Review the generated code, test with test keys, then switch to production
- Deploy to Vercel and point your domain
The entire process can take as little as a few hours. The dashboard handles all the business logic — products, orders, shipping, payments. The AI handles the code. You handle the vision.
Getting Started
Ready to build? Head to Installation to set up the SDK, then describe your storefront to your favorite AI assistant. You will be surprised how fast you can ship.
